| Metin2 Interview with G4Box's Maran Sam |
By Mark Arsenault Metin 2 is one of the latest micro-transaction MMOs to hit the market. It is
set in an eastern fantasy world, where the player can become a master of martial
arts, fighting as an ally of the Dragon God. Rallying against the power of the
evil Metin Stones, players can opt to fight in battles for one of 3 different
empires. By conquering land and possessions, or acting as a diplomat to forge
alliances between warring factions, players can even become Emperor and rule
over whatever vast dominion they can manage to build. MPOGD: Good day, and thank you for taking the time to answer some questions about the upcoming release of Metin2. Can you give us a brief overview of the game? Maran Sam: Thanks a lot. Metin2 is a 3D MMORPG (Massive
Multiplayer Online Role Play Game) that is packed with great features including
quests, guild battles and nation wars. Metin2 is integrated with a powerful
Dynamic Battle System, which results more interaction with the enemies to
produce a strategic battle system. The game play is more diverse, intense and
eye catchy than the previous version. Key features include an epic combat, vast
environments and massive battles up to 300 players simultaneously. Free download
and free of charge to play with millions of players around the world for life. MPOGD: Could you please elaborate on the "Multiple Targets Fighting System" that you have planned? Maran Sam: The "Multiple Targets Fighting System" basically
works as fallows. Each weapon contains a different level of strength and once
the player targets an enemy, the weapon it self has an attach range. Thus, when
the player attacks the target, all enemies within that target range will receive
damage. The stronger the weapon is, the stronger the damage that is inflicted.
Therefore, the end result is multiple enemies being damaged at the same time. MPOGD: You have mentioned that you plan to have guild-based mass PvP. What sorts of objectives do you have in mind to hold the interest of players? Maran Sam: Increase the amount of players online to cause a more
diverse competition. Provide a very friendly yet motivating customer service
support that is available 24 hours and 7 days a week. In addition, setup
exciting events with valuable prizes. MPOGD: Differentiation with MMOs these days seems to revolve around character development, and whether it is level based or skill based. Could you give some details on character progression? Maran Sam: Character development is very important in any RPG,
Metin2 offer players with a simple but effective approach of developing
characters. In other words, the development is a combination of skill and level
progression. Each character is developed on the basis of using experience points
and status points that are gained from battles as well as quests. Unlike most
RPG's, Metin2 provides the player with a way to customize each character based
on what the player's intentions are for that character. Basically, player is
able to use the acquired points and contribute them where it is necessary to
make unique characters. MPOGD: I've noticed that you do not plan to have a monthly fee, and instead are opting for a title purchase price only. Do you have long term plans for maintaining servers, or will you continue to finance operations with expansions? Maran Sam: That's right there will be no monthly fee of any kind. The game servers will be well maintained and still be running. Financing of operations will be conducted through expansions, upgrades, advertisements and more business by forming other contracts. Thus, players will have a more competitive and interesting entertainment that is yet to come. MPOGD: What particular demographic of player do you plan to target, and how will Metin 2 appeal to them versus other available MMOs? Maran Sam: The target audience for this game is mainly teens, young adults as well as adults who are RPG gamers and others who just like to play free online games. Unlike most MMO's out there, Metin2 offers a fast paced dynamic battle. Therefore, allowing the players to experience an intense style of combat which causes multiple attacks simultaneously while keeping the game more interesting. Furthermore, attacking enemies is fully controlled by the players giving them a more strategic battle and not just issuing commands or cause automatic attacks. In addition, the game play itself introduces newer concepts resulting a more realistic and unique game play. MPOGD: Do you have any latest developments you would like to share with our readers? Maran Sam: Future developments and integrations will include assorted
characters, 4 more classes to choose from, a whole new kingdom and a new type of
guild war. These features are bound intensify the game play and produce a
competitive advantage over other MMO's out there. So as you can see, there are certainly some very interesting things brewing in Metin 2. The unique combat system, the massive guild wars and the pay-as-you-go micro transaction system are all a departure from mainstream MMO design.
